Data Sources

Transparency about where our data comes from and how we process it.

HSE CONIAC Licensed Contractors Register

The primary source for all contractor licence data. Published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the CONIAC register lists all companies holding a current or recently expired asbestos licence in Great Britain.

Data includes:

Company name, licence number, licence type (Standard/Ancillary/Scaffolding/Maintenance), expiry date, registered address, phone number

Update frequency:

Monthly re-ingest from the HSE website

Companies House

We cross-reference contractors with the Companies House register to provide company status information, helping you identify active businesses and avoid dissolved or dormant companies.

Data includes:

Company number, company status (Active/Dissolved/Dormant), incorporation date

Match rate:

347 out of 378 contractors matched (91.8%)

Google Places API

Where available, we display Google review ratings and review counts to help you gauge a contractor’s reputation. Ratings are sourced from Google Maps via the Places API.

Data includes:

Star rating (1–5), total review count

Note:

Not all contractors have a Google Business profile. Missing ratings do not indicate poor quality.

Postcodes.io

Contractor postcodes are geocoded (converted to latitude/longitude) using postcodes.io, a free and open-source UK postcode API. This enables our distance-based search functionality.

Coverage:

100% of contractors successfully geocoded
